10:30 – 11:30 Beyond the Binding: Everyday Quilters, Extraordinary Quilts

Avid quilter Marianne Fons presents unusual quilts made by mostly unknown quilters from the past—as well as some from present day—examining remarkable works from the standpoints of exceptional engineering, exceptional risk-taking, or exceptional personality. They also share visuals of their own latest, greatest quilts. (1 hour)

1:00-2:00 You Call THAT a Quilt?

In this delightful, insightful presentation, avid quilter Marianne Fons discusses quilt style nomenclature in current, and sometimes controversial, use, including Traditional, Studio/Art, Contemporary, and Modern. Using images of quilts past and present, Marianne and Mary celebrate the elements all quilts, and quilters, have in common. (1 hour)
